2016 has been a fantastic year for Chorley District as a whole, not least for Youth Shaped Scouting and lets hope it continues. I’m thrilled at how welcome you, both adults and young people, have all made me feel since I started as Youth Commissioner a year ago (How time flies when you’re having fun!). I want to thank everyone for their hard work and commitment in helping as we work towards a Youth Shaped Chorley. I have seen many amazing things from our young people, and we really are extremely lucky to have them as part of the district. Their opinions are invaluable and without them we wouldn’t be half the district we are now, keep up the great work! With that, I can’t forget to mention the hard work of our amazing volunteers, who tirelessly work week in week out in order to support the young people. Thank you for your hard work!
Following the success of #YouShape 2016, where over 20,000 young people and volunteers across the country got involved, 2017 will see a whole #YouShape month held in February. Obviously Youth Shaped Scouting is about everyday Scouting all year round, but UK Scouting is focusing on February to really support young people and volunteers to embed this traditional part of Scouting into what we do and celebrate what are already good examples of Youth Shaped Scouting. Throughout the month I hope to see the young people of Chorley grab every opportunity thrown at them and build on our impressive start! As a team myself and Ellie will aim to visit as many groups as we possibly can to see first hand just how brilliant you can be. This will be a great chance for Chorley to make a massive stride towards our Vision 2018 aims and prove ourselves to be one of, if not the best district about!
As always myself and Ellie are always willing to help with any of your Youth Shaped needs, you can contact us at any of the following:
I look forward to seeing you all again very soon,
